Nominations open today for the 2012 Green Toronto Awards, the City’s Environmental Awards of Excellence. A partnership between the City and Green Living Enterprises, the awards honour and celebrate the residents, community groups, organizations and companies that are leading the way to a cleaner, greener and healthier Toronto.

Winners will receive a Green Toronto Award and $5,000 to further their work on the environment or donate to an environmental charity of their choice, courtesy of award sponsors. Winners will be announced at the 2012 Green Toronto Awards ceremony at the Green Living Show in April.

Award categories open for nomination are: Local Food, Community Projects, Energy Conservation, Green Business, Environmental Awareness, Green Design, Leadership, Youth Leadership and Water Efficiency. Nominations close February 6, 2012.
